Wilridge Winery

Syrah is fast becoming one of Washington State's signature red grape varieties.  The warm days and cool nights of Washington State are perfect for ripenening Syrah.  The 2006 Wilridge Syrah is sourced from Elephant Mountain Vineyard, high in the Rattlesnake Hills on a south facing slope above the lower Yakima Valley.  The grapes are farmed by Joe Hatrup.  The vineyard reminds Wilridge winemaker Paul Beveridge of the Rhone Valley's Cote Rotie -- and the wine is similar to a Cote Rotie in style with rich, pure, expressive fruit.

Unlike with the 2004 and 2005 vintages, no Viognier was co-fermented with the 2006 Syrah because the Viognier did not ripen in time.  Therefore, the complex aromas on the nose of the 2006 are 100% Syrah.
